Manchaca Optimist Youth Sports Complex

The project involved the construction of new baseball and softball fields for the Manchaca Optimist Youth Sports Complex. Bob Thonhoff, Manchaca Optimist Club member and his engineering firm Thonhoff Consulting Engineers, donated engineering services for the project. Bob provided initial designs for two concession buildings and pro bono design for an on-site water system and wastewater sewer extension to the City of Austin. Bob assisted another engineering firm in design of the site, including the individual baseball and softball fields.
Bob was president of the Manchaca Optimist Club from 2012-2015 and was chief executive for the owner of the property. Currently, Bob is serving as chairman of the MOYSC corporation board. The project was constructed by volunteer labor with continuous donation support. The site is currently in operation with baseball and softball programs. The MOYSC is currently involved in constructing environmental controls and stormwater detention facilities required by the City of Austin.
