Harris Branch Interim Wastewater Treatment Plant and
Lift Station Improvements, Austin, Texas
This project involved expanding the capacity of the wastewater treatment plant from 0.2 mgd to 0.4 mgd and constructing a new main lift station to serve the peak rated capacity of the treatment facility. A package 200,000 gpd wastewater treatment plant capacity was placed next to the existing 200,000 gpd WWTP by Aqua Utilities by a separate contract with the City of Austin.
A new 3-pump submersible wastewater lift station of 834 gpm 2-hour peak capacity was designed to serve the combined plant capacity. All piping interconnections, primary electrical power, and site work improvements were designed to integrate the project. All construction work was performed while keeping wastewater treatment operations in service including the operation of the existing lift station. Once the new lift station was completed, the existing lift station was demolished. Site improvements included the construction of new access drives, parking areas, and new chain link security fencing.
