Los Indios Lift Station Relief Interceptor
Austin, Texas
The Los Indios Relief Interceptor was a City of Austin Annexation Project that relieved two lift stations in annexed municipal utility districts. Construction consisted of approximately 3,500 linear feet of 15-inch gravity sewer through an existing neighborhood and connected to an existing interceptor line previously constructed along Lake Creek. This new interceptor relieved the Los Indios Lift Station and the Hunter’s Chase Lift Station which were removed from service and demolished. The 15-inch sewer was constructed through deep open cut methods over 20 - 26 feet in depth. A long boring was utilized where open trench construction could not be performed. The boring beneath Elk Horn Mountain Trail was about 538 L.F. in length using 30-inch steel casing. The new sewer was constructed while continuing existing wastewater service.
